There is much talk of spiritual progress: "Swamiji, am I making progress in my meditation, or am I not?" And by "progress in meditation" people often think of an awareness of the subtler forms of matter, experiences of the subtle body, and experiences of the universal unconscious. In Sutras 15 and 16 of Chapter I of Yoga-sutras, and elsewhere repeatedly, we are warned that it is easy to become attached to these kind of experiences. "Swamiji do you read palms?" "No I don't." "What kind of a spiritual person are you?" "Swamiji, do you predict the future?" "No I don't." I teach you how to build your own future according to your design. You plant your garden, you've sown the orange seed, you don't need an astrologer to tell you that a mango will not grow here. You plant your garden, and you decide whether you want to plant oranges or mangos, or flowers, or thorn bushes.
